We define a global solution based on the Pentaho Business Analytics open source suite. Then, we use Kettle and model the OLAP cubes. Also, we use the Pentaho Business Inteligence Server for visualization.
With this solution new olap cubes can be created within the infrastructure, adding new sources or developing new reports with which could complete existing ones.
The result of the project is a comprehensive Business Analytics solution in a local environment or in the cloud. Also, the implementation is a live and scalable platform.
We define a global solution based on the Pentaho Business Analytics open source suite. For data collection from various sources we use Kettle where loading processes are set to centralize the information in a DataLake. From this point and once the sources and business needs are identified, the OLAP cubes are modelled for the extraction of value. The data sources are totally heterogeneous, since each application has its functionalities. For query and visualization, we use the Pentaho Business Intelligence Server, including graphics from libraries such as D3js, HighChart or Raphael, as well as Community Chart Components, which is included in the Community Dashboard Editor. In addition, modelling allows modifications to perform diferent cohort studies without the need of reloading the model.
The result of the project is a comprehensive Business Analytics solution in a local production environment or in the cloud. In addition to responding to the established requirements, the implementation is itself a live and scalable platform. New olap cubes can be created within the infrastructure, adding new sources or developing new reports with which to complete existing ones. The environment, while in operation updating data and recreating reports, needs management and maintenance tasks to be performed.
